Vinny Meets Vincent (Yellow)
Banksy is one of my favorite artists and Quentin Tarantino is the visionary director that had me fall in love with cinema. Pulp Fiction was my introduction to QT and I’ve been obsessed with his movies ever since.
Needless to say, this piece of art is inspired by Banksy’s portrait of Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield. In addition, John Travolta’s character bears a fantastic resemblance to his classic 80’s sitcom character Vinnie Barbarino.
With a background featuring hand-cut images from Welcome Back Kotter comics, this piece pays tribute to the genius of Banksy, QT, and John Travolta. Enjoy Vinnie Meets Vincent.
Dimensions: 36 × 24 × 1.75" inches
Edition: Original
Year: 2024
Signature: Hand stenciled signature by artist on left edge and verso
Material: Collage & Acrylic on wood canvas
Original Welcome Back Kotter comics
Technique: Mixed media collage application, layering hand-cut comic images to provide depth and intentional placement of certain imagery. Jules and Vincent are stenciled over the collage using an intricate tapping technique with acrylic paint pens to bring this piece to life
Finish: After several thin layers of glue, the work is sealed with a protective gloss coating to preserve the artwork and make it pop
Hanging: The depth of the wood canvas is 1.75” and the collage extends around the sides of the artwork, so the piece comes ready to hang and doesn’t require framing
